About Zinc of Ireland
Zinc of Ireland NL (ASX: ZMI) is a Perth-based zinc exploration company dedicated to creating and delivering value from our high grade Irish-Type zinc projects in Ireland and in Western Australia
In Ireland the focus is twofold:
i) advancing our flagship Kildare Project, located approximately 40km southwest of Dublin, which has the key attributes of the famous high-grade zinc mines in the area; and
ii) the consolidation of tenure and exploration of the Rathdowney base metal Trend where ZMI now has 80 PL’s either granted or under offer.
The Kildare Project is situated within the Rathdowney Trend, within 80km of the famous profitable zinc mines – Lisheen (17 year mine life) and Galmoy (12 year mine life). Both of these mines are now closed although an application to reopen Galmoy has been submitted to the local authorities by Shannon Resources Ltd in 2021 and is currently in process.
Within our extensive portfolio of 100%-owned prospecting licences in the Republic of Ireland ZMI is working towards the consolidation of historical data and has ranked over 20 exploration targets to date. Of these the Rapla Prospect target has been identified as ZMI’s priority drill ready target for 2022.
In Australia, ZMI announced in November 2021 that the Company had received notification that an application for EL38/3624 in the Earaheedy Basin, WA had been successful. ZMI has been granted the licence for a five year term, by the WA Department of Minerals, Industry Regulation and Safety (DMIRS) with an effective start of 4 November 2021.
